// Yungblud // Occupy The UK Tour // O2 Forum Kentish Town // 09-08-21 //

On Monday Evening, Doncaster born artist, Yungblud took to the stage of the O2 Forum Kentish Town for his first of five London shows. Evening one saw over 2000 excited fans in attendance, many dressed heavily in his merchandise, including the free ‘Fleabag’ face masks for his upcoming single that were provided at the door.

Already hyped up after KennyHoopla’s electrifying opening performance, Yungblud entered the stage after loud chants erupted from the packed-out crowd. Making a bold entrance, the 24-year-old appeared from behind a curtain wearing a red leather dress, crop top, black lipstick and his signature pink socks, before jumping around for opening song ‘Strawberry Lipstick’ and snogging his guitarist to cheers from his almost cult-like audience.

The atmosphere in the busy venue was one that was extremely loving and supportive, aided by multiple heartfelt speeches from the headliner. Explaining the meaning behind album track, ‘Love Song’, Yungblud, born Dominic Harrison, says, “I’ve spent my whole f**king life, feeling like I will never be able to love anybody. I felt like how the f**k can I love someone? Then, again, I found you!”.

Keeping the audience entertained during his 90 minute performance, Yungblud’s perfect blend of popular singles and older tracks, including collaborative single, ‘I Think I’m Okay’, album title track, ‘Weird!’ and an emotional performance of the 2019 release, ‘Casual Sabotage’ left the audience more than satisfied. With many being moved to tears between jumping into mosh pits, it felt as though the crowd were trying to match Yungblud’s energy and the born entertainer left the audience exhausted by the end of the night.

The lack of confetti pouring into the crowd was missed, however only very briefly due to Yungblud’s insane performance making you feel like you’d miss something if you took your eyes off of him, leaving the well thought out staging behind him as nothing but background noise as he pranced across the stage.

There are a very limited amount of tickets remaining for Yungblud’s UK shows over on his website, and if you can’t make any, be sure to tune into Friday night concert livestream of the show over on his TikTok - https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMRe8mjfa/
