// Thomas Headon // Good Karma Club // Colours Hoxton // 21-07-21 //

After over a year without live music, we returned to Colours Hoxton, an intimate venue in the heart of Shoreditch for the Good Karma Club showcase. Hosting the evening was Radio 1 DJ and Presenter, Abbie McCarthy, who warmed up the sold-out crowd ahead of performances from three emerging artists.

Kicking off the night was Lizzie Reid, an incredible singer/songwriter, who captured the excitable audience with her beautiful songs and charisma. Although wonderfully performed, Lizzie’s music was not the ideal set alongside the other two acts, due to the audience’s different musical tastes.

Also supporting headliner Thomas Headon was Irish musician, Cian Ducrot, who showed off his vocal abilities from the get-go, belting his self-written songs about shitty ex-partners and hitting people right in the feels with heartfelt track, “Hurt So Bad”.

It was clear who the crowd was there to see once 20-year-old Thomas Headon stepped on stage. The London-based artist captivated the 300 strong crowd by performing the vast majority of his discography whilst bouncing across the stage with Harry Styles-esque mannerisms. During his hour-long set, Headon played all of the fan favourites, alongside acoustic covers of Last Friday Night (TGIF) by Katy Perry and a mashup of his own song Butterflies with Cherry by Harry Styles.

Switching between an acoustic and electric guitar and smiling between lines, the young musician radiated confidence on stage whilst maintaining his cheeky chap persona. With help from his drummer, Stella Alkan and guitarist, Casper Miles, Headon kept the crowd bouncing around until the very last song.

Despite Headon announcing there would be no encore performance, the vast majority of the crowd were cheering for more long after he had exited the stage. Perhaps for his November tour, (which you can purchase tickets for HERE) he will hold a little more back until the end so the crowd won’t leave hoping for just a little more from the TikTok sensation.
