// Post Malone // Wireless Festival // Finsbury Park // 06-07-18 //

As someone who wasn’t a hardcore fan of the majority of artists performing at Wireless on the Friday, I grew more impatient waiting for Post’s 40 minute set to begin. I managed to squeeze my way through the crowds to the barrier, where the combination of heat and excessive pushing caused me to be covered in bruises the next day. When it was finally time to see Post, he entered the stage to ‘Too Young’, the eleventh track off of his debut album and the crowd lit up immediately. It was quite difficult to see him at first because of the excessive smoke coming from the stage, but the brilliant blues and the neon yellows from his lighting crew made him stand out.

Post performed songs off of both his Stoney and Beerbongs and Bentleys albums, which have both been huge chart toppers. From his speeches in-between songs and his choice of outfit (black trousers with England flags patched onto the kneecaps), he came across as a very down to earth and genuine guy. Post’s stage presence and overall aesthetic made it impossible to take my eyes off of the stage. A slightly drunken performance didn’t impact Post’s vocal ability, even when he lit a cigarette mid show. For a real rockstar performance, be sure to check out Post Malone at his next local gig.

Despite Post’s international success, he does not have a European tour lined up, which I’m hoping planning is in process for, because as much as I absolutely loved his set it would have been great to have him on stage for longer and see him perform a few more songs.
