// Liam Payne // Album Release Show // New Slang - Pryzm Kingston // 10-12-19 //

Following the release of his debut album as a solo artist, Liam Payne’s short acoustic set at the intimate venue of Pryzm in Kingston had the place lit up like a Christmas tree just in time for the holidays. Despite poor album reviews from the critics, Liam’s fans turned up in large numbers to celebrate the release of LP1, with some fans travelling from abroad and queuing for upwards of eight hours for a spot near the front. The dedication was clear, with those in attendance singing along word for word to the newly released songs, some they had only heard as recently as four days beforehand.

The intimate setting was the perfect place for this acoustic set, which allowed Liam’s talent to shine. With incredible vocals, frequent expressions of gratitude and many interactions with the passionate crowd, the singer proved he deserved his spot on the stage and could keep the crowd entertained without the help of his former bandmates.

In addition to performing newest release ‘Live Forever’ and platinum single ‘Strip That Down’, the One Direction star paid tribute to his past with an emotional rendition of ‘Little Things’ which had both Liam and the crowd rubbing their eyes. A beautifully sung version of Sam Smith’s ‘How Do You Sleep’ was also thrown into the mix; where Liam’s amazing vocal talent was further proved, with powerful notes and an incredible range being performed between wide smiles. Using a teleprompter to assist with part of his performance seemed somewhat lazy, so I’m hoping for the singer to learn his own lyrics by the time he’s on tour!
