// Lewis Capaldi // Album Release Tour // New Slang - Pryzm // 23-05-19 //

Turning up to the venue hours before the doors even opened, I knew this would be a rare opportunity to see Lewis Capaldi in such an intimate venue due to his fast growing fame. The musician/ meme legend entered the stage to roars from the crowd and ‘Here Comes The Money’ playing in the background. Lewis on stage is the same Lewis you see in all of the viral videos, a very down to earth and genuine guy who mentions his toilet habits on stage in front of 1200 people. He even stopped mid-speech to take a pair of sunglasses out of my hand and have a laugh with the crowd when he put them on.

As well of the banter of course were his songs, off of his brand new album ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ which he sung very well. I was so glad that he performed 'Hollywood' but did hope to hear 'One' live as well. Lewis still has a bit of a way to go with his stage presence, because although the banter was there the eye contact was not. Being in the front row and up close to the singer, we frequently had awkward eye contact, where he would instantly look away. Not saying I want him to creepily stare into my crowd, but being able to look into the sea of fans without singing the remainder of the song with his eyes closed would be nice. Being in an intimate venue and the gig not being part of a proper tour, there wasn’t much they could do visuals-wise, yet Lewis did have his band in all red tracksuits to add to his comedic image and the strobe lights during Fade were amazing. Lewis has an arena tour in 2020, so if it hasn’t already sold out, grab yourself a ticket!
