// LANY // Europe Tour //O2 Forum Kentish Town // 08-10-18 //

Rushing from a shopping trip to the tube after being offered last minute free tickets from a kind stranger on Twitter, my first time seeing Lany was finally happening. Originally discovering them on Soundcloud so long ago I can’t even remember but never seeing them live as their shows always sell out before I have a chance to get tickets, this was a gig I was very excited for and I had high expectations.

It is hard to pick out a specific thing that stood out from the show, as the entire experience was incredible. The aesthetics were beautiful and well thought out, and even further boosted by the unique staging design, where the band were above the lead singer. The hazy pinks which made the group look like silhouetted shadows from the back of the venue were one of my favourites. Lead singer, Paul Klein interacted with the crowd throughout the night whilst singing songs about love and heartbreak and many in the crowd around me cried happy tears.

Lany had the most incredible setlist including songs off of their new album ‘Malibu Nights’, which was released just a few days before the show. They also played older tracks such as ‘Hollywood’ and ‘Pink Skies’, which were amazing to hear live as part of Lany's 20 song set. Paul’s vocals were incredible and the band didn’t miss a single beat. This show kicked off their European tour and Paul's emotions seemed to be heightened when performing new tracks for the first time. Their new music is amazing and I hope to see them again soon, especially after Paul stating they'd be back in London next year!
