// Hi-Rez // Humble But Hungry Tour // Jazz Cafe Camden // 01-10-18 //

Five years after discovering Hi-Rez through his collaboration with Jake Miller in 2013, he finally came to the UK for the first time as part of his Europe tour. The gig was in the Jazz Cafe in Camden, a very intimate venue and one I’d love to attend a gig at again. During his set, Rez made a huge effort to interact with every single fan in the crowd and did so without missing a single bar in his fast paced songs. He even covered Eminem’s ‘The Real Slim Shady’ and impressed the whole crowd with his flow. Playing tracks off of his new album ‘Humble But Hungry’ on top of his older songs made for the perfect setlist, however the selfish part of me really wanted to hear his old song with Jake.

Part-way through the show, there were some technical issues with the sound, so Rez thought fast on his feet and invited fans on stage to rap or beatbox with him whilst the issues were solved. His chilled out and genuine side really came through during his final two songs, ‘3 Foot Tall’ and ‘Smiling’, where he came into the crowd to perform. After the show, he hung around to meet everyone and even knew my name from our online interactions. My friend and I convinced him to do shots with us from the venue’s bar, which was a fun way to end an already amazing evening. I can’t wait for Hi-Rez to come back!
