Earlier this month, we headed over to the Small Beer Brew Co in Bermondsey, London for a mid-week show, organised by Sofar Sounds. Reimagining the live event experience, Sofar Sounds host specially curated events all over the world, and this show saw three talented acts perform in a very unique venue. Opening the intimate evening was 21-year-old, Clide, who had flown over from Berlin especially for this performance, which was one of his first-ever live shows since his solo single debut in early 2020.

Playing both the guitar and keyboard, Clide, born Claudio Maselli, introduced each of his five songs with a natural charm and switched between his instruments effortlessly. The 20-minute set included an acoustic performance of “Feelings”, which is the title track of his recently released EP, as well as “Blank Space”, a song perfect for fans of Lauv. With beautiful falsettos and well-written lyrics, we would have loved to see more from the newcomer, and we can only imagine how great he would sound with a bigger production.

Clide’s set was followed by a great performance from South African duo, Stone Jets before singer/songwriter, Gabrielle Sey closed the evening with another short set, which included her most recent release, “Vapour”. The entire evening was a really fun experience, and as a newcomer to Sofar Sounds, it seems to be the perfect setting for date nights and discovering your next favourite artist.

Many of the acts are unsigned and being able to hear such incredible talents before they’ve had the chance to be heard by the world is a surreal experience that we highly recommend!
