// Cian Ducrot // Colours Hoxton // First-Ever Headline Show // 02-11-21 //

Last week, Ireland’s very own, Cian Ducrot took to the stage of London’s mesmerising Colours venue in Hoxton for his first-ever headline show. After seeing him open for Thomas Headon a few months prior, we had high expectations for his performance, which were immediately met from the moment he stepped onto the stage and opened the show with his upbeat single, “Chewing Gum”.

Despite his nerves during the first few songs, the 23-year-old sounded incredible and only got better as he got more comfortable with the 300 strong crowd staring up at him. Feeding off of their high energy and enthusiasm, Cian frequently expressed his amazement at the size of the crowd at his sold-out show and at one point was even “lost for words”.

The evening had a strong community feel, with the “Crocodile Tears” singer explaining the stories behind many of the songs and coming into the crowd with just his guitar for a very intimate performance of an unreleased track. The vocally and lyrically talented artist was accompanied on stage by drummer, Luke Hughes and guitarist, AJ Wilson, which only further complimented Cian as he effortlessly switched between playing the Keyboard and Guitar.

Canadian singer/songwriter, Cate, who opened the night and immediately won the crowd over with her vocal talents and amazing songs also joined Cian on stage to perform, “Know Me Again”. The pair sang the May 2021 release beautifully and were so comfortable on stage they could have fooled us as a duo.

Unfortunately, there were some technical difficulties that impacted the sound and distracted concert-goers from the set, but Cian and his band remained professional throughout and still managed to put on an incredible show. Closing his hour and a quarter long set with “Make Believe” was the perfect way to end the evening and we’re already hoping to see him on stage again soon.

Cian has announced his debut EP, “Make Believe” is coming out on 2nd December and after hearing a few unreleased songs at the show, we can’t wait to listen! Pre-order “Make Believe” HERE and listen to his latest single, “Hello Gorgeous” HERE.
