Making an entrance to his biggest show of the tour, blackbear started off with almost unmatchable energy that went on until the very end. With a little help from Egberto “Budda” Foster Jr on the bass and Clarence Lewis on the drums, the crowd jumped and sang along with the singer all the way through his hour long set.

The 18 song setlist consisted of a perfect mix of tracks, from older favourites like ‘90210’ and ‘idfc’ to 2019 releases including ‘Changes’ and recent chart single ‘Hot Girl Bummer’, which was further complemented by cold sparks flying up from behind the singer, along with fire erupting from the stage and even confetti raining down on both the blackbear and the crowd at the end of the show.

In addition to the amazing pyrotechnics, the lighting and staging was also absolutely incredible. The visuals behind the singer were beautifully designed and very well matched with each song. There were playboy chains, snakes and even Mike Wazowskis popping up on the screens behind the artist, who is well known for keeping up with the best memes. The staging was creative and unique and allowed fans at the back of the packed venue to be able to see the singer, who was bouncing across the stage all night long.

There is not a single thing I could fault about the musician’s performance, his energy was insane, his vocals were strong, he interacted frequently with the crowd and everyone at the sold out 5,000 capacity venue had the time of their lives. It’s clear that blackbear is arena ready so hopefully he tours the UK again soon!
